ImageSeveral years ago, ace Division 1 photographer, Dave DeAngelis, realized a life-long dream by obtaining his Top Alcohol Dragster competition license. He got a ride in the "Public Enemy" dragster, thanks to respected tuner/car owner, Steve Zavor. It's not one of the more bucks-up teams, but Zavor is a hard-working machinist who knows his way around a Blown Alcohol Hemi.

"Diamond" Dave had a memorable outing at Virginia earlier this year, taking out Bruce Horner and Richard Bourke, on his way to the finals. Unfortunately, weather delayed that contest until a few weeks later, as it was decided at Maple Grove. The Public Enemy car was set to tangle with Karen Stalba for the Virginia gold, but she grenaded a motor in the previous qualifier, which set up a single for DeAngelis. And although it was a lonely starting line, Dave pushed it to a fine 5.47/260 pass, instead of saving parts. Way to go, Dave!
