The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum hosted a fun gathering that honored the legendary Blair's Speed Shop, which is still located in Pasadena, California. Many years ago, Blair's was not only a local hangout for gearheads, the place employed many of today's hot rod heroes. Guys like builder/fabricator, Pete Eastwood (P-Wood), Pete Chapouris (owner of So-Cal Speed Shop), Eric Vaughn (founder of Real Wheels), and countless other racers and rodders who got their start thanks to Don Blair.

Former Blair's employee (and lifetime practical joker) Robby Robison, spearheaded the gathering, with the assistance of several devoted helpers. Some famous faces in the crowd included NHRA founder Wally Parks (shown greeting Don Blair), So-Cal Speed Shop founder Alex Xydias, Dave McClelland, Kenny Youngblood, and Mousie Marcellus. Former Blair's customer and Pasadena native, Dean Ferrari, told us, "Don Blair took care of several racers over the years. When I ran my Funny Car, he offered me help with fuel and tires and believe me, that was a big deal, since I basically funded the program myself."

These days, Blair's is owned by Phil Lukens, who many of you may recognize for his AA/A Fiat Topolino, campaigned on the Nostalgia circuit. Although the fair city of Pasadena was once made famous for a certain little old lady in a Super Stock Dodge (thanks to the Beach Boys), it can certainly be proud of Blair's Speed Shop - still going strong after 60 years.
